No Merrill again.
I'd still like to see Henrique replace Zajac on the top line, he may have a better chance at converting on those chances created by Jagr.
Maybe even give Boucher a shot at playing alongside Jagr and see what he can do.

Keep Adam with Clowe and Ryder. They're the only line that can score right now. I wouldn't mind seeing Boucher with Jagr and Zajac though, that could be pretty awesome.

Devils beat writer Randy Miller of NJ.com makes a case for New Jersey to acquire veteran forward Daniel Briere from the Montreal Canadiens, saying that Briere may not be happy with his playing situation in Montreal, could be a top-line centre with the Devils and would be closer to his sons who live in Haddonfield, New Jersey.

Miller suggests that swapping Briere for defenceman Anton Volchenkov could work, as Volchenkov carries a $4.25 million cap hit through 2015-16 and Briere has a $4 million hit through next season

Montreal is a weird team in that they have a lot of high end talent in Pacioretty, Subban, Price, etc. but for some reason like to shoot themselves in the foot by dressing guys like Parros and Murray, both of whom serve as anchors bringing the Habs down, on a regular basis. This more or less hinders the Canadiens' ability to roll four lines and also makes the 3rd defense pairing weak.

Ryan White is injured as well, and regarding the 4th line, I think the Habs' salary cap situation prevents them from calling anyone up from the farm team and keeping an healthy Parros in the pressbox.

No thanks, as much as I would love to move a dman to make room for Larsson and Gelinas full time; trading for Briere as a top line center makes little sense, with Zajac and Henrique. I also do not think Briere would fit in well with our current coach's system. I could be wrong, but I just do not see a fit there.

Agreed...would be a waste. Let's try to not get older with a trade....

Also, the Devils can buyout Vokchenkov after this season and free up cap space. They can't do that if they take on Briere.

Can we trade them Sal instead?!
I don't know about top line center but i'd rather have him than Lokti.

This is what I was afraid of when they called up Boucher. You can't surround him with Loktionov and Sislo. The guy is a scorer, not a grinder, and he needs some support. Playing 9 minutes a game, even if it's in the NHL, is not helping his development. I really don't understand why he is still here at this point.

I disagree. I think it's a good deal. It allows you to improve your offense without giving up any chips. Any other player this panel would want would require a young talent.

Oh joy seven Dmen tonight! Wonder how little both Gelinas and Merrill will play. Development? Who cares!?!

His line up shows Merrill in & Gelinas out, so why do you think Merril's sitting? Why would Merrill sitting over Gelinas upset you?

Gelinas shoots & produces. 36 games, 78 shots on net, 4 goals, 17 points, 3 PPG's, 1 OT goal & only minus 2.

Merrill. 24 games, 22 shots on net, 0 goals, 2 points, minus 8 the worst on the team for Dman & in only 24 games.

For a team that struggles to score & even get shots on net wouldn't NJ be better served to dress Gelinas? Gelinas also has 69 hits to 15 for Merrill.

Ok...but where do u see him improving??? He hast done much with Montreal and they have a muchbetter top 6 and possibly top 9. And he wouldn't deserve a top 6 spot here.

I'd only take him if it meant Boucher back to the minors playing bit minutes. Outside of that, no I do not want Briere at all. He doesn't bring much anymore except defensive liabilities.

He must have just edited it because before he did not have Merrill in.
I'd like to see both of them in and either Sal or Volchenkov sit
but that will never happen unless one of them is hurt.

Such a joke, I would (frank)ing cry if we traded for him.

Also you should edit out the quoted link in your post because it (frank)ed the page up

I think Deboer does the same thing by dressing Bernier & playing him in a roll he doesn't have the skill set to suit. Zubrus & Zajac aren't 1st line players & trying to generate offense with these 2 players is a waste of time. I'm not saying curb their minutes you want them going up against the other teams best line night in, night ot but hopefully Elias is back soon so Jagr will have someone to play with. Coaches are a strange breed. They have their favorities & keep trying to squeeze that square peg into a round hole. Numbers don't lie over the long haul.

Copy that.

Not sure you want to be dressing 2 rookie Dman unless absolutely necessary. Salvador missed a chunk of time & may need several weeks to get back to where he was. I've never liked Volchenkov but the golden boy rule applies in the NHL. The team dresses the players they have invested in rightly or wrongly. Otherwise GM's & scouts look stupid & they don't like looking stupid.
